Eric van der Woodsen

He was born to Lily and Keith van der Woodsen. He is Serena van der Woodsen's younger brother. He grew up in a wealthy family with no fatherly figure because of his absent father and his mother's numerous marriages. Before the Pilot episode, Eric felt alone because of Serena's departure to attend a boarding school and Lily's recurrent absence; so he tried to commit suicide. The troubled younger brother of Serena and heir to the Van Der Woodsen fortune, his suicide attempt becomes the catalyst for Serena's homecoming. Revealed his homosexuality later on in season one to everyone, after his boyfriend Asher pretends to have a relationship with Jenny Humphrey. His friendship with Jenny is repaired after she apologizes in the beginning of the second season. They soon become best friends through the second season. This once again falls apart during Season 3 after Jenny accepts her role as Queen Bee.
